All of the items I currently have listed for sale in Discogs are also available in my eBay Shop at reduced prices. This is because I'm in the process of transferring my old listings over to a new template before I then transfer them into a new e-commerce store. If they sell during this sale period I will obviously not have to redo them and so it saves me time and you money, so please take advantage of this offer, available to eBay users only.
I've been buying records since 1977. I'm a self-confessed vinyl junkie who lives and breathes music. Don't try to help me, it's too late for rehab!
I'll give anything a listen but my real love is electronic music, house music in particular. If you want a bit of a laugh here are the first 5 records I ever purchased:
- The Muppets - Halfway Down The Stairs - I was very impressed with the vocal dexterity of Kermit's nephew, Robin, on the B-side.
- Clout - Substitute - I seem to recall this being number 2 in the charts for weeks and weeks? Suckered into submission!
- Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove - Impressed my mate, he always had the latest Boney M vinyl, funky bastard!
- Public Image Ltd. - Public Image - I was blown away by this after hearing the demi-god David "Kid" Jensen play it.
- Squeeze - Cool For Cats - Quite a cool tune at the time, but not as impressive as the shocking pink vinyl.
Now how funny is that, eclectic or what?
I spent most of my youth listening to disco, punk, new romantic synth-pop, new wave & early industrial electronica. When I left school all my mates were into the jazz funk & soul weekender scene, I was still buying stuff but I'd class those years as a bit bland. It wasn't until I picked up on an unusual track from the Upfront 1 compilation that I started to get a real buzz from dance music. That track was Steve "Silk" Hurley's Jack Your Body, I'd discovered Chicago house music & from that moment my musical tastes took on a whole new direction.
Here's a varied selection of 25 of my favourite slabs of vinyl, the ones that bring the memories flooding back everytime I hear them played. They're in no particular order, most are well known but if you haven't heard one check it out... Enjoy:
