Vintage cable query...

I have a late 70's/early 80's modular console, 24channel monster built by ACE Audio Engineering. The power supply on this beast is via 2 cables from a rack mounted power unit. The first cable is a 6pin XLR that carries the desk voltage, the 2nd cable is a 2 pin XLR with a very thin 3rd pin in the centre, this carries the +48v, and powers the lamps VU backlights and other bits of the desk. I've never seen one of the latter cables/connectors before and im having trouble locating the parts. Anyone out there seen or have something similar? They are both Neutrik connectors, but only the 6pin one is still listed in their catalogue. To save drilling the rivets and replacing the ports im trying to find a cable and/or connectors so i can use the beast to its full capability.

I take it a hacked DIN/midi cable wouldn't do?

How is that wonderful looking studio doing BTW?

Make sure you post it in the right section. These guys are picky like that.

thanks for the tips:) Studio is looking even better with this beast of a desk running things. Im trying not to hack the connectors, this i can do easily, and will probably do if i can't get any info on the connectors/desk.
Pics and video will be up soon..

We're fixing an old board at a shop I work in right now with a very similar cable that stopped working. Basically they don't exist and you have to build your own. It seems like you already know the pin out and these connectors are easy to find via a good electronics shop (not rat shack) or mouser, digikey etc.

The 6 pin is probably a DIN connection (looks like midi), and not XLR.

get it working yet? gearslutz is a good place to ask for advice, also call some pro audio shops and search eBay (obviously). you may also consider calling Neutrik directly and asking to speak to one of their techs or engineers, they might be able to help. i used to deal with them when i worked in pro audio and they were very helpful folks.

Thanks all:) I contacted Neutrik before posting here, and am still awaiting them to get back to me. The 6pin is an XLR fitting like this one:
http://www.neutrik.com/uk/en/audio/21...etail.aspx
The one im looking for is like a standard 3 pole XLR with the left/right poles normal size, and the middle pin a much thinner one. I'll grab some photos of the fitting for reference, in case it's confusing!
The desk works superbly, only the lamps and +48v that haven't yet been tested. I think im going to drill out the fittings and replace them with something more conventional, but the phantom power isn't my main concern, drum machines and synths are my main forte:) But i'd obviously like it to be fully functional.
