Alden Tyrell Featuring Fred Ventura - Memories - Betabox What a fantastic track Alden Tyrell has brought us. My favorite is the instrumental version on the B side (B1). It sounds very vintage Italo disco with the (Linn style) drum beating at a slow 105 bpm. The nice melancholic chords make me want to listen to this track again and again. B2 brings us a more funky/cosmic vocal version of this track. The A side is the more commercial version sung by 80’s Italo coryphée Fred Ventura. Wonderful stuff Maarten, instant classic!

Zoviet France - Shteirlel - allan_zane It's also shaped like a square (fore those who didn't know). In fact, it's made by the same man that made the triangle-shaped record I did with Mykel Boyd! I quite fancy it for :Zoviet-France: post Robin. 'What Is Not True' is by FAR the best post Robin ZF, but this one is fine too. It still retains some of the qualities that we have all grown to love and expect fron ZF, but it IS a bit minimal. Not that minimal is bad by ANY stretch, but this release really could have stood being "fleshed out" a bit more...

Tevin Campbell - mpreston123 Tevin is such a great artist! The young man is very talented and gifted and has recorded in my opinion some very timeless music. He delivers every song from his heart and soul. Even at a young age, he was recording adult music and yet he sang with such amazing energy. Tevin has that smooth sexy tenor voice that can go from a low range to a very high range without any struggle. He did an excellent job on the Spanish version of Dandelion. I still play that one for my co-workers. Tevin, you have a lot of faithful followers who are anticipating your new comeback CD. We have also heard nothing but good reviews for your part in "Hairspray" as Seaweed J. Stubbs. You are indeed a man of many talents and I still believe you can do it ALL. Be encouraged and best of luck to you in all of your future endeavors. We love you and we are definitely missing you. Don't let your gracious talents go to waste. Love, Peace, & God Bless! |
Tevin Campbell - For Your Love (Remixes) - mpreston123 I love this song! Tevin does very well on this cut as well as any other song he has released. Nice medledy alone with his smooth sexy tenor voice. Not sure why it didn't get a lot of airplay, but it is a great song. I have also seen videos of this song, and when Tevin sings it live, it sounds really great! He is one artist that sounds great live as well as in the studio. |
Killers, The - Mr. Brightside - DJLazarus The Thin White Duke mix is, in my opinion, not only superior to the actual original of this tune in every way, but possibly one of the finest remixes of all time. Truly stunning :)
A complete reinvention of what was originally quite a bland affair, his interpretation has such massive cross-genre appeal that any number of DJs from all ends of the musical spectrum could get away with playing it. Simply majestic from start to finish, definitely the high-point of an already illustrious career for Stuart Price. |
Narcotic Thrust - I Like It - Davnix The redeeming feature of this release is the Sinewave Surfers 2am Remix which was the track a deaf Frankie Wilde composed (Hear No Evil) in the movie "It's All Gone Pete Tong" that was absent from the official soundtrack.
The song is a far fetch from the original with it's coats of grit and electro-house percussion style. Only the occasional chant of the mix's namesake hasn't been replaced.
The rest of the tracks go from bad with boring and outdated house stabs and flat basslines to worse with the snore-tastic Tom Mangan Remix. |
Luciano - Fabric 41 - ajmedway Just got it and had 2 listens...
It's f*ckin' heavy from the 1-st bar till the last, always transitioning creatively through subterranean tech-house subdivisions, always givin' energy and fresh vibes, as track-by-track Luciano build's a steady, pulsating minimal groove that sticks to the core values of Fabric on Saturdays.
It builds nicely from the mid-west grooves of San-Fran-based House don Mark Farina, with his awesome summer '08 sun-drenched house workout.
I lust for more of this filth. When will Ame finnaly get his one released? 42?
Highlights: Rhadoo - Slagare DJulz - Yo Momo M83 - In Church

Louis Guilliaume* - Soulpoint I - jacderida Every tune on this record is great, but The Syncom Lock remix could quite possibly be the best banging techno track released in 2008!
Ridiculously awesome bass drum production on the 4/4 beats, and when that bass kicks in around the 50 second mark... wow, this tune will blow the roof off of any club it's dropped in. Don't sleep on this one!
I now eagerly look forward to any production that Louis Guilliaume is involved in, hopefully we'll have lots of his work to look forward to in the future. |
